Expert in Ovarian Cysts Treatment
Expert Obstetrician and Gynecologist, specialist in Maternity, Infertility and laparoscopic Surgeries.
Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs or pockets in an ovary or on its surface. Many women have ovarian cysts at some point of time in their life. Most ovarian cysts present little or no discomfort and are harmless. The majority disappears without treatment within a few months.
However, ovarian cysts particularly those that have ruptured, can cause serious symptoms. Most cysts don't cause symptoms and go away on their own. However, a large ovarian cyst can cause:
- A dull or sharp pain in the lower abdomen on the side of the cyst
- Bloating in the stomach
- Fullness or heaviness in your abdomen
You should seek immediate medical attention if you have: sudden, severe abdominal or pelvic pain or pain with fever or vomiting.
At Sai Krupa Ramadevi Hospital, Dr. J. R. Ramadevi will first conduct a pelvic exam. Depending on the size and whether the cyst is fluid filled, solid or mixed, Dr. Ramadevi will likely recommend tests to determine its type and whether you need treatment.
The treatment depends on your age, the type and size of your cyst, and your symptoms.
Dr. Ramadevi may suggest you wait and get a re-examination in a few months to see if the cyst goes away or suggest your medication or even surgery depending on your condition.
If you have these signs and symptoms or those of shock cold, clammy skin; rapid breathing; and light headedness or weakness book an appointment online or through a phone call.
